The Trust in Ourselves

All humans by our nature question ourselves often and we tend to get anxious because we don’t have certainty of what will happen in the future.

This doubt in our abilities or what the future beings is very much influenced by factors that are beyond our control.

These factors could be something like mother nature that affects some of our plans, like planning to go on a walk or run and it starts to rain.

Other factors are other people that have their very particular way of thinking and provide an opinion on the things you think or do.

And let’s face it, some of the feedback is delivered in a way that is very poor and you feel like you are doing something wrong even when in your heart you know that you are doing the right thing.

Some examples might be like when you start a new friendship or relationship and you share your thoughts or plans with someone and they go ahead and make a comment that is contrary to what you think and it makes you question your way of thinking.

Then as you share more time with others, you might feel that your way of thinking is wrong and that you must have done something incorrectly.

The feeling of questioning your way of thinking is a frustrating thing, and does not allow you to have peace of mind.

However we have to think that we all are very different and that opinions are just that !opinions!

If someone else is providing their feedback and you know in your heart that you are doing the right things then work on building the confidence and learn to trust yourself.

Many people try to give you feedback and they might mean well but don’t have the constructive communication skills to tell you the reason why they are saying something that is contrary to your way of thinking.

Try to empathize and put yourself in their shoes and maybe understand why they are saying that to you.

Others just don’t want you to succeed and will say things that are hurtful in order to not see you happy.

As well you can empathize out evaluate if those people are really worth giving them your energy.

When someone really is looking for the best for you, they will provide feedback that will help you grow. And sometimes that feedback is tough and you might not like it but when you search within you, you will know they are right and you have to be honest with yourself.

But in order to build your confidence you have to do the basics.

  • Learn about yourself: Take moments of silence away from distractions and just learn about your dreams, goals, accomplishments and what you really want.
  • Be honest with yourself: When you do something evaluate if it’s truly something that will help you meet your goals. When something is not right, you will know, learn to trust that feeling.
  • Learn how to discern: Things are not that easy to figure out if they are good or bad. You will have to use the trial and error method and learn from that. Just keep in mind that whatever you decide doesn’t hurt you or others.
  • Learn and move on: If you succeed with your decision, great. If things didn’t go as planned, allow yourself to feel those emotions of the failure, learn from the mistake and move on and learn to not dwell on the past.
  • Learn to accept who you are and work towards being better every day.

Some say we are learning every day and some say that we are only remembering what has already been programmed in us and we have to listen to our inner self.

So when you are about to do something and you get that feeling that it’s not right, it makes sense that you know what’s wrong.

You might just prefer to ignore that little voice in our head telling you that you are going to do something wrong. Or you also ignore that little voice that is inviting you to do the right thing and to be courageous.

So work on strengthening the trust in yourself and when someone questions you, instead of putting yourself down, use it as an opportunity to learn and gain more confidence.

After all, you were created to grow, thrive and be happy.
