As you take this journey through life and remember those times that you have faced a challenge that makes you feel unhappy, frustrated, sad, whatever emotion that we define as negative.
And as you are trying to understand the reason why things like this seem to happen to you,
How many times have you felt that everyone and everything is set to be against you?
It seems that whatever you do, someone is out to make sure you are not successful or happy.
- When that person cuts you off while driving.
- When someone makes a generic comment and you take it personally.
- When someone does something and you think it’s against you.
Whatever the event that triggers that emotion that everything is against or about you, you should put it in perspective and truly think if it is aimed at you, because maybe it’s not meant for you.
When you assume that everything is about you , you tend to have emotions that are not well founded and start to generate negative emotions for nothing.
When faced with that event that makes you feel that it is meant to be against you, you should take a moment to think whether it was really about you or not.
- Maybe the person that cut you off, did not see you, you might have been in a blind spot, or they were distracted.
- Maybe the comment that someone made, was towards someone else or just made as a communication to a group of people.
- Maybe the person just did something that was not meant to be against you.
Now, if that comment or action that someone made hits home, then it might be a good opportunity to reflect on what you did or what you are doing and try to do something to improve, taking this as an opportunity to learn something about yourself that you didn’t even notice.
Maybe the message was not for you, but it made you think.
So whatever happens in life there is a good chance that not all of it is about you.
When you think you are the “center of the universe” and that everything revolves around you, you might be dealing with emotional struggles that are not related to you.
So instead of getting upset, take a few moments, breathe, think and try to determine if it was about you.
- If you determine that you made a mistake, apologize, correct the behavior and learn to let go and move on.
- If you determine that you did nothing wrong , you don’t even know the person and will not see them again, just let it go and move on.
Life is so short and we should not waste time on holding on to grudges of things that are not even related to us.
Because when we think we are the “center of the universe” and that everything revolves around us, we are in for a very stressful life, when the reality is that we are a part of a bigger plan in life that not everything revolves around us.
that everything revolves around us, we are in for a very stressful life, when the reality is that we are a part of a bigger plan in life that not everything revolves around us.
