Momentum is strength or force gained by motion or by a series of events, the quantity of motion of a moving body.
If a process or movement gains momentum, it keeps developing or happening more quickly and keeps becoming less likely to stop.
Our lives gain momentum based on certain decisions and start taking us on a journey that might be pleasant, exciting or not so pleasant and maybe monotonous.
Every little or big choice we make either helps us gain momentum to a good thing or a bad thing.
What happens when we start making bad choices and we start gaining momentum towards negative results?
Examples could be having negative thoughts about ourselves, drinking alcohol consistently, having an unhealthy diet, only watching or reading material that is making us anxious or sad, then you start gaining negative momentum and that motion is more difficult to stop.
However I relate this to sports, and you will see one team gaining momentum in a positive direction and then something happens, either the team with momentum relaxes or the other team does something to change momentum.
It takes an action that allows you to start slowing down the momentum in that undesired direction and then changing it to a momentum in the positive direction. Maybe as easy as starting your day 5 or 10 minutes earlier, giving thanks for things you have or don’t have, drinking more water, saying good morning and smiling to people at work or on the street, so many small but impactful things.
Whatever it is take action and start building momentum towards the desired direction. Slowly but surely you will start gaining speed and confidence. You might feel you were doing 100 miles per hour going on the negative direction and that you will not be able to change to the positive direction.
But those little changes every day will add up, keep it up, eventually you will gain positive momentum and maintain it.
Once you gain positive momentum be vigilant and always be aware of what can stop your momentum.
There will be a lot of factors that might entice you to lose positive momentum such as tiredness, lack of motivation, bad influence and a many others.
However find those things that will feed and help you maintain your momentum such as positive thoughts about yourself, positive influence , good nourishment and good information that will help you grow.
Life is a marathon and it’s a long and bumpy road, but if you have the discipline and you develop the tools you will do great and keep that positive momentum.
