Ever since the dawn of time, man has been searching for the meaning of life, for their purpose, for their objective in life, and with all the philosophers, wise men, gurus and however you want to call a person of high intellect analyzing this topic for centuries, humanity still struggles with this.
And like any other human I ask myself, why?
Maybe we are not being our true selves.
Just think of it for a minute, your purpose might be to be happy and not suffer, but, what does it mean to you?
We see so many outside examples of what happiness is: relationships, money, fame, power and many more things that on the surface seem great, but are they?
We constantly compare or measure ourselves against others and maybe fall short in comparison to those people, but is that snapshot in time of “perceived happiness” something that would make us happy?
Well that is where we need to make time to really dig deep and find our true self.
How many people do you know that are not happy?
Have you asked yourself, are they being their true selves?
There are many examples of people sacrificing so many things for friends, money, fame, power but maybe their true self is someone different.
Do you know people that were “forced” to do something that they are not, maybe pressured to study a specific thing instead of following their dreams or maybe the opposite work in something instead of following their desire to study?
How many people do you know that are not rich, famous, powerful, but have the courage of being their true selves and are extremely happy and free?
There are many, you just need to be observant.
What I am trying to say is that it is difficult to find your true self, especially when there are so many outside factors and we are uncertain who we really are, however when you really dig deep and find that true self within you:
Do you have the courage to be your true self?
Many of us shy away from that because we get constantly questioned by family, friends or people whom we interact with directly or indirectly.
Whatever obstacles are in front of you , you have to find the courage to live as your true self, even if it’s not a popular decision that does not mean it is not right for you.
Once you are certain of your true self and have the courage to become what you really are, your life will be filled with inner peace, joy and everything you could ever hope for and more. You do not have to meet other people’s expectations, “you are unique and there has never been or ever be someone like you”.
So take the time to get to know yourself and find that one or several things that give you goosebumps and send electricity up and down your spine. That is a good start to get to know who you really are.
And no matter what it is, have the courage to live your life and grow as a person.
You only have one life so you should live it as your true self and be the best version of the real you.
